Morals

Image result for morals

As the years trudge on,
You realise what is important in your life,
You understand what means something to you.

It's not the money or the possessions,
Nor the shiny jewellery,
The fake friendships that so nothing for you,
Except erode your soul.

Life is about integrity,
Never ending morals,
Loyalty from friends who refuse to let people talk dirt behind your back,
Instead they do it to your face,
Always with a laugh,
Nothing bad about that.

These are things that cannot be purchased,
They are earned,
Slowly yet surely,
When they are sacrificed,
We know we have been burned,
Trust has been incinerated,
No place left to turn.

Life is a learning curve,
Without failure we cannot know success,
Without hard work we will never comprehend the struggle,
At last happy with the winning outcome,
We have earned this win,
We see the battle scars from within.

Failure is experience turned inside out,
We must fail to eventually succeed,
At least we know we have always tried,
Or we shall die trying,
This has always been our mantra,
We always succeed.

For we pick people with morals over everything,
We know that when the flames come for us,
They will be right there waiting to save our bodies and our souls.

This means more than all the flash cash,
All the fast cars,
This is the true meaning of life.

Life should not have to mean strife,
All you can so is live your life,
Don't lose sight of what is right,
Look inside.

Understand all that glitters is not necessarily gold,
Dig deep,

Try your best to find more.

Stars

It's all the little things, That make us who we are, Taking comfort in the sea, Staring at the stars, Long conversations after midnight, Coffee at all hours. We crave laughter that sings in our souls, These are the things that enthral our lives, Ignites our hearts, Our dreams shoot to the stars and back, Makes us understand what life is all about.

Drowning

You chipped away at me,  Until all self-confidence was gone,  You abandoned me,  Left me drowning all alone.

Image Of You

It’s the quietness that gets to me, I know it shrieks the truth, Every situation is replayed a thousand times within my head, If Ive made a mistake, It chills me to the bone, Gnaws at my brain, Makes me feel a little less happy at home. The darkness frightens me, For it allows me to have crystal clear clarity, Every wrong step, I now know the way, Too late for me, I have lost my way. Through all the broken pieces that make up my life, I see haphazardly, A kaleidoscope of whirlwinds, And still... I always see you. Whenever I am in need, Your memory comes to me, Softens every blow, The image of you from long ago, Soothes my torn and worn soul, Allows me to carry on, At least for a little while more. © 2019 MK AC Nevin-Crooks Love Life Poetry
