What If…

Time is no longer our friend,
And when I find my thoughts drifting,
They always return to you,
Thoughts of us,
Time spent with you.
No matter what,
No matter where,
Like a daily prayer,
You are always there,
In my minds eye,
Always at the forefront.
Memories of you,
Of us,
Not obsessive anymore,
Youth destroyed that for me,
And in a way I’m glad.
Nowadays I feel slightly less torn,
Still broken,
Always bruised,
Carrying on nonchalantly,
You know me,
I will never show how I truly feel about you.
For I have layered on an armour built over the years,
Through it all…
I became strong,
Resilient,
A fighter,
Always thinking of you,
Of things we used to do.
I have glued myself back together again,
Slithers of my heart are clinging on,
I am ready for a new glorious day,
Until the dusk makes me forlorn.
Whatever happens next,
And until my final breath,
You will always be my favourite ‘What if…’

Mommy Loves You

The love I feel for you all, Will never run out, So never despair, It is in my heart, Distilled especially for you, True love, Beyond compare, No need to share, There is enough already there. You have all heard my heart beat from in there, Oh how I love you and your beautiful stares, Mommy loves you, Know that love shall never fail.

Dreams

Your voice has been missing from my life for years, And yet every night, I see you vividly, Within my dreams. © 2019 MK AC Nevin-Crooks Love Life Poetry
